“A Pencil’s Self-Portrait” + its low-budget stop-motion translation
A Pencil
When a pencil dies
it writes its own gravestone,
uses its own petals of sawdust
lays wreath for itself
This is a collaboration between Mark, Emily, Madeline, Tina, Olivia, Lucia, and maybe some other people. We are artists whose work and learning have been displaced by the coronavirus pandemic. We seek to find some shelter in this space, to respond to (and share) assignments and work. Each of us will do what they can when they can.
Thanks, Olivia. I ran your poem through google translate which, I'm sure, doesn't do it justice...but it's very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how do you think about google's linguistic translation in comparison to the visual stop-motion translation.
